Chels Wears: Skirts in the Snow

Skirt: Thrift Shop | Shoes: Kmart | Shirt: JCPenney | Jacket: Deb | Scarf: WalMart
Oh look, guys, I'm not properly dressed for the temperature again. Imagine that. I just hate snow too much to let it ruin my fashion plans, though I wish my legs weren't so white, holy cow. It was actually fairly "warm" when we took these photos. Like 25 degrees or something that felt decently warm. Erie is a confusing place to live around this time.

This is the first time this skirt has ever made an appearance. Well, that's not totally true. I got it at a thrift shop back home over a year ago and it (along with one other) have been hanging in my closet waiting to be worn by me since. I'm just not normally a midi skirt kind of person. I'm usually maxi or mini so this length has been a weird one for me to decide to wear. But I'm thinking I like it! I'll have to pull out that other thrift shop skirt that I got with this one because I'm really liking this look and I really am surprised by that. I wore this on Sunday to church. I really only decided to go with this skirt at the last minute because I didn't feel like wearing tights and didn't want to wear a maxi. (I always wear a skirt or dress to church, I feel weird when I don't.) So this skirt was the winner...long enough to not really need tights and short enough to not be considered a maxi. Maybe it's time to embrace the midi?

What's your favorite skirt length?

Chels Wears: Floral Fringe Kimono

Kimono & Purse: Target | Pants & Scarf: Walmart | Ring: Flea Market | Wedges: Kmart | Tank: JCPenney's
I have become obsessed with kimonos recently, but hasn't everyone? I'm so glad that they are back on trend because I love flowy clothes that still keep you dressed up and comfortable. I got this one at Target and it has become my favorite. I like that it's dark, which makes it a fall/winter piece, but it's floral, which apparently makes it for spring/summer as well. I can tell that I'll be remixing this one for all seasons and you guys are going to have to just go along with it.

And while I don't really like to re-wear exact outfits, I will admit that I have worn this look before...except for the shoes. I wore this look with my lace up boots, that I probably wear too much, to go out to brunch with my mom when I was back home for my cousin's wedding in October but I thought these wedges would give it a little more sophistication. I really like how it turned out and I felt very chic in it all day. So wedges for the win.

Any new pieces to your closet that you're absolutely loving?

Chels Wears: Remixed Puppy Skirt

Puppy Skirt: Target | Shoes, Necklace & Vest: WalMart | Shirt: JCPenney

Have I mentioned how much I love this puppy skirt? Probably. I love it. I just haven't put it on the blog nearly as many times as I've worn it, but I figured that it was time to show it off again, since the last time I posted it was in a snow storm. Though I admit that while wearing this I felt like I was going to a sock hop, it made for a fun summer outfit and comfortable to be working in all day.

Chels Wears: Hopes for Spring!

Jeans: Target | Chambray: WalMart | T-Shirt: JCPenney | Boots: URBANOG | Scarf: Forever 21

I told you guys this outfit was coming. Since it was so warm outside on Tuesday (like 35 degrees) I thought it was okay to break out the peach pants, but since there's still snow on the ground, the boots were necessary. Especially since I got these boots, I have been obsessed with them. If you have seen me off of the Internet, you've probably seen these boots. Hope you like them, because I'm in love. Okay, so here's some truth, I've really got nothing else to say. So...do you like this outfit?

Chels Wears: Flannel & Lace

Lace Tank: American Eagle | Lace Scarf & Belt: Unknown | Ring, Bracelets & Necklace: Charlotte Russe
Flannel: WalMart | Jeans & Cardigan: JCPenney | Boots: Payless
Oh hey, -12, but feels like, -29 degree weather! I hate your stinkin' guts. Seriously though, how are some of you ladies going outside and standing out there until you get pictures that are worthy of putting on your blog? Not so much over here, especially since I have to convince my photographer (aka: my brother) to go outside with me. But, plus side of living with your brother, who is a pastor...living in a house that is connected to a church that has a lot of little spaces to take pictures in. Like this cute little library! The library in this church is actually quite extensive, which is impressive to me. It's actually divided up by sections of genre and people from the church donate books to be checked out there. Does anyone else have a library like this in their church because it seems like an amazing idea to me.

In other news, my brother would also like for me to tell all of you that this flannel shirt is his. So, hey everyone, this is Eric's shirt. To be fair, I bought it for him for his birthday and I asked permission before stealing it for the day. I just have a beef with women's flannels because most of the ones that I have and see in stores are not real flannel. They are really just plaid and are not of the flannel material that actually keeps you warm. Ain't nobody got time for that! It feels like -29 degrees outside, I need a real flannel!

Hope you all are staying warm!

Chels Wears: Winter Maxi

Chambray: WalMart | White Shirt: JCPenney | Maxi: DIY | Flats: Urban Outfitters
To those of you who are also fashion bloggers, props to you if it is freezing outside while you take your pictures. I took these in about two seconds because it was so cold outside and all I wanted to do was go back into the house. Along with that, the only sensible way to wear a maxi in the colder temps is with leggings underneath. Thank God for the unseen leggings in these pictures.

I wore this look to church and then to work on Sunday and have to say that it was just dressy enough while still being super comfortable that I could wear it all day. And honestly, since moving to the tundra, comfort and "dressy enough" has pretty much been how you could describe all of my outfits. But maybe with this little warm spell we're supposed to get this weekend I'll be able to step it up again!

Chels Wears: Remixed Hipster Grunge

Pants: WalMart | Chambray & Cardigan: JCPenney | T-Shirt: Mumford & Sons
Scarf: WalMart | Fork Ring: Festival | Telephone Necklace: Wet Seal | Leather Cuff Bracelet: Charlotte Russe
Shoes: Payless (Brash)

I'm not really sure if I'd consider this look to be really "hipster" or "grunge" but it's certainly remixed. If you look at previous Chels Wears posts, specifically, Double DIY and Breaking Fashion Rules, you can pretty much come up with this outfit and I thought this basically condemned building in town made for the perfect backdrop. Please excuse the pile of trash that I am clearly offended by in the first picture.

I wore this to see the War of the Worlds show at Bricolage (which by the way, you still have a chance to win tickets to: see how here) last Thursday and it was freeeeeezing. I had my trusty photographer (my dad) take these as I was on my way to the show and wished that I remembered to grab a coat before leaving, but alas, I froze instead. In case you were wondering, the later half of fall has certainly arrived here in Western Pennsylvania, which I am not a fan of since it leads to winter. The season I love to hate. Looks like it is time to stock up on some desperately needed new boots. Four Pittsburgh winters will certainly test the quality of your footwear and after last year, basically all of my boots have had more than enough.

Chels Wears: Oversized & Tight

Ring: Charlotte Russe | Bracelets: Wal*Mart | Purse: New York & Co. | Shoes: Urban Outfitters
Shirt: JCPenney | Chambray & Pants: Wal*Mart
Necklace: Urban Outfitters

Guys, seriously, I cannot even talk about how excited I am about the Pirates right now. Holy. Poop. But, moving on. The two main pieces of this outfit are from Wal*Mart. And you should know by now that I buy clothes from every where and do my best to make them look good. It's called being on a budget and still wanting to look stylish. If college taught me one thing, it was how to shop on a budget.

Let's talk about these pieces. These pants are so perfect, I also bought them in hunter green. This color in real life is oxblood. (Or maroon for those of you who don't speak trend.) For a curvy girl, it is the hardest task to find jeans that hug your curves and still are tight at the ankle. But not to worry, friends, I found them at Wal*Mart and they come in all kinds of colors, so go buy them up. Also, for awhile I've been looking for a light chambray (denim shirt) that isn't boring and I think with those little studs on the lapel of this one, I've found the perfect one. Especially since this one is a bit over sized, I can see a lot more outfits with it because layering with sweaters in the winter will be easier. What are some great pieces you've been looking for and have finally found?
