Mockingjay pin: WalMart | Ring: Charlotte Russe | White blouse & wedges: Kmart | Red skinny jeans: delia's |
Versions of this outfit are my go-to looks for winter. I got this sweater freshman year of college for Christmas (so I don't have a clue where it's from) and didn't really consider liking it until about a year later. See, sometimes it's okay to let things you're not sure about sit in your closet for a little bit! I now love this sweater and probably wear it during the winter months more than I should, but now that the Aztec prints are on trend, why not!?
Also, these are currently my favorite shoes, in case you haven't noticed me wearing them in my last outfit post as well - sorry not sorry in advance for how much you'll probably be seeing them in future outfit posts. They are just the perfect wedges and are so comfortable and versatile. And while I usually opt for just a plain t-shirt under this sweater, I thought I'd dress it up a little more by pairing it with this flowy blouse that I scooped up from Kmart. By the way, surprisingly, Kmart has a lot of great clothes right now. I kind of wrote this store off for awhile, but if you haven't been there recently, I suggest you get to your nearest one for some great clothes at seriously low prices. I got these shoes there too!
Oh, and this mocking jay pin. Shut. Up. I love it. I'm not a die-hard Hunger Games fan, I have yet to read the books and I've only seen the first movie, but I do like the story so far (don't ruin it for me!) and think the fashion in the movie is so inspiring and honestly innovative. It's also refreshing to see a young female character kicking some serious butt and not letting people control her, and of course...Jennifer Lawrence. Anyway, when I saw this pin in WalMart and on sale for only a dollar (!!!) I had to have it. And yes, look forward to seeing more mocking jay inspired looks on Friday for Fashion Forward Fridays. What are your go-to items to wear in the winter?
That pin is adorable & I love this outfit! You are so pretty :)

Haha! Thanks, Kelly!
DeleteLoving that sweater! Those types of open sweaters are so warm and I love wearing them around the house! I love the Hunger Games books and movies! You should definitely read the books! I need that pin in my life!
ReplyDelete~Sara
Thanks, Sara! I really do need to read the series but promised myself to read all the books I own before getting anything new - I guess that's what the library is for though, right? lol
DeleteLove that sweeter and those red pants! I'm such a fan of outfits that just have a great pop of color!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Amanda!
DeleteSuch a cute asymmetrical sweater
ReplyDeleteI have read the books, but only seen the first movie
They say the second movie makes way more sense if you have read the movie
Have a great day and stay warm
Brett
Thanks, Brett! Looks like I'll have to read the books sooner rather than later then!
DeleteThat pin!! I love it and that it was only $1!
ReplyDeleteRight!? Thanks!

ReplyDeleteI really like your outfit here, the cardigan is so pretty and I want these trousers in my closet, too!
Have a great day,
-Kati
Thanks, Kati! And no problem!
DeleteI really admire how you're always changing up your style! That asymmetrical sweater pairs so nicely with the red pants, and I can definitely see it looking great with a variety of other outfits. I also have yet to read the Hunger Games series, but I'm absolutely loving the pin. It adds such a unique touch to your outfit!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, dear! I thought the pin added just the right amount of something extra to this look, too.
DeleteThis is so cute! I am the worst at clearing out my closet in a fit of organizations and then regretting donation things. I should take a cue from you and hold on to things longer;) Thanks for linking up!
ReplyDeleteI usually do too! But since this sweater was a gift, I just wanted to make it work so badly and now, it's one of my favorites!
DeleteRed looks so good on you! I didn't really care for the Hunger Game books they were a little "too young" for me. Moreso the writing style was very poor. The first movie was really good, if only way too long! Anyways, I miss wearing pins. You now make me want to go invest in a bunch of pins!
ReplyDeleteThat's what I was worried about too, Jessica. I haven't read them yet because I'm sure I'll be let down by the writing and "young adult" style of them, based on what most of my friends have told me about them. I really did like the first movie though and am excited to see the second...eventually lol
DeletePop of red seems to be a trend!! Love this outfit, you look great! Thanks for linking up with What She Wears, hope to see you next month!

Thanks, Jalynn! I noticed a lot of bloggers used red as their pop of color for the link up, must be the theme haha!
DeleteI've been wanting a pair of red skinnies sooo bad lately!! I love this sweater, too. It looks perfect and cozy. Oh and I went to K-mart to buy those wedges, and all they had left was 2 pairs. Unfortunately neither in my size. Womp womp womp. -__-
ReplyDelete<3 danielle
Thanks, Danielle! Sorry you couldn't find the wedges though! Hopefully they'll get more!
