Fashion Forward Fridays: Spring Shoes

Since I've been bartending so much, I have been wearing a lot of flats and sneakers recently. Which has led me to fall back in love with my KANDALS and want to order something similar but bolder. My decision would already be made if KANDALS created a shoe with some sort of pattern on it, but alas!

one: ModCloth | two: Target | three: UnionJack Boots | four: Blowfish Shoes

I've narrowed down my options to these four and really like them all for a different reason. At the bar, the other girls and I all wear the same t-shirt and jeans so really our shoes are the only part of our outfits that make us look different. Because of this, I have found a new love for flats and sneakers, which is mind blowing to me more than anything. Coming from the girl who wore heels everywhere for the past five years, this is a major step.

Which of these do you like best?

Chels Wears: Casual Cobalt

Necklace & Bracelets: Charlotte Russe | Scarf: American Eagle
Vest, Shirt & Jeans: WalMart | Boots: URBANOG | Bag: Strawberry

So. Let's talk about this outfit. It's matchy-matchy, which I don't like. And it's one of those outfits that the majority of people would label as cute, but in fashion blogger world, we label as "everyday" or typical. So I'm a bit indifferent about it. I like it, but am more posting it out of the feeling of needing a Chels Wears post, not that I'm really in love with it or anything. I wore this last night on my "date" with MJ...and my brother. We went to Cheddar's in Erie. Which is poorly named for how nice it actually looks inside. I was highly misled.

MJ was in town for an admissions fair and I certainly didn't want to pass up the opportunity to see him, but since I've also be fighting the good fight against this little cold, I didn't really feel like getting dressed up. This is what happens when you know you're going to see your boyfriend of four years and you both are just going to stuff your faces and then go home. I have to admit that I'm seeing a lot less of MJ then what I expected when I first moved and that was apparent after being so excited to see him all week and then realizing we only got to spend like an hour together. We are officially back to long distance when an hour of his time is the best part of my week. Next month we'll get some more quality time in, my friends (Hannah and Wade) are getting married and we're making a whole weekend out of it. So while that's a month away, my bridesmaid dress is cute, so that'll make up for him seeing me in such a casual outfit last night haha

Fashion Forward Fridays: Wearing Pastels

Happy Friday, everyone! I just want to take a minute to thank you all for your response to yesterday's post. All of your comments and emails have just made me so happy. I wasn't looking for compliments with that post, I just wanted to spread the word, but your responses just made my heart smile and I wish I could just give you each a hug. Thank you.

Now onto the fashion! For this installment of Fashion Forward Fridays, I created three boards in Polyvore focused on my favorite trend right now...pastels. I can feel spring is just around the corner, even if there is still snow on the ground here and the start of spring reminds me of pastel colors so I created some looks based on that. Since I'm not a huge fan of floral, I'm very specific about what kinds of it I like, spring is usually a hard time for me to be buying clothes because it seems like everything has a flower on it. "Florals? For Spring? Groundbreaking." So I'm hoping that this year more places bring out pastels, also not very groundbreaking but a girl can dream about a solid, right?

Thank you, Miranda Priestly. Gif from Besty Transatlantically.

This first look was created for work wear. I usually shy away from the match-matchy, but I couldn't pass up the purse or the dress, so I just put them in the same set. If you're at work you're not holding your bag all day anyway so it's okay. I like how Mad Men-esque this look is, I'm all about that for the office. Let me rephrase, I'm all about the Mad Men fashion for the office...not the way the women are treated. Had to be clear there!
This next look is for a night out and is almost showing off the Pantone Color of the Year, Radiant Orchid! Almost. I'm not a huge fan of purple, but this shade isn't bad! I love a structured look for a night out, very tough while still being sexy. All the pieces in this look are too expensive, but I wish I had them all in my closet.
The final look is the one I think I will see most often. You all know my love for colored denim so I had to throw these into the mix. I cannot wait to pull out my salmon skinny jeans so these bubblegum ones have me swooning! You will more than likely see a future Chels Wears post with me wearing something very similar to this look, I love it!

Which way would you wear pastels? Or are you a floral lover for Spring?
Remember to Spring ahead with your clocks on Sunday!

Chelsea Lately

I can totally steal that phrase right? I mean, it's my name too and Chelsea Handler stole the idea of having a talk show from me (Chelsea Tonight! is going to happen) ....maybe.

Anyway, since I've been pretty MIA recently and I didn't get to talk about what is/was going on too much during Fashion Week, here's a picture-heavy post to get you up to date on my life. Also, in between each of these pictures, please visualize me looking like a hot mess in a Mac lab at Point Park trying to design/re-brand the Pioneer Magazine and other miscellaneous things. Because, let's be real, that's what I've really been doing. Along with applying for jobs because I graduate in TWO WEEKS. Eek!

Went to the Pirates home opener with my parents and brother! Welcome baseball season - I looooove you!!
Red Beard's opened downtown - right between Verve and Six Penn. Expect a full review!
I got a free cake after waiting in line for 30 mins from CAKE BOSS! Yum! Thank you, Buddy!
WGF held their annual Equal Pay Day - good job ladies!
Went to Jumonville for a dean's meeting - excited for baby dance camp!
Eric talked me in to joining the PTS softball team for PSL. Our first game was yesterday, we won 21-7!!!
Spring finally came to Pittsburgh! I love you warm temps and sunshine!!

Nude Nails & Free Rita's

First, thank you to everyone for the sweet comments and emails regarding my post on Monday about my alma mater, Seton Hill. You all are lovely. Thanks for your support. <3

In other news, happy spring! Does it feel like spring to anyone yet? I'm dressing for it in hopes that the weather will catch up to me, but I am still wearing my winter coat, scarves and boots. Remember how happy we were just a few months ago to bring out those boots? Wah.
First Day of Spring: Freezing while holding Rita's Red Velvet Cake flavored ice.

Yesterday, the official day of spring, was a great day for me. I had a rare day of no school or work requirements and MJ was allowed to take a day off of work because of all the hard work and long hours his team has been putting in recently. So like a loving boy, he picked yesterday so we could spend the day together. The only thing that would have made the day better would have been if the weather was warmer. But MJ planned the greatest day-date ever. I am so blessed. It's rare for us to be able to spend a lot of time together because of our schedules and the distance, so I would've been fine with sitting in my apartment staring at each other, but MJ is an expert planner for fun outings.

It was also refreshing to spend the day out of the city. Which as I typed that, I felt bad saying, but it's true. We went to Narcisi Winery for lunch and actually agreed on one bottle to share. This is a big deal to the girl who loves dry when her man loves sweet. And yes, I realize my taste in wine is equivalent to that of someone four times my age. But we agreed on the Niagara, so naturally bought another bottle for MJ to take home so we can share it later. This place is beautiful though and if you're around this area, it is definitely worth the trip, but maybe save it for a warmer day so you can walk the grounds.

The rest of the day was spent driving back towards the city and of course, our favorite activity...shopping. Until MJ decided to surprise me with dinner and bowling at Latitude 40. Which I have never been to, but is a favorite spot for MJ and his work friends. I'm an awful bowler so he beat me, 165 to 57, no big deal. I did get one strike. This is also a place to look in to, especially if you've never been, it was like a better version of Dave and Busters, in my opinion because it's an up nad coming local business. And then of course, we made the trip to Rita's for our free 'first day of spring' ice. Perfect day. Perfect boyfriend.

What did you do to welcome (or encourage) the season of spring?
